Stages of Development

We follow a roadmap for every development we do. It steers us in the right direction and keeps us on schedule—even though we tend to steer off course sometimes.

As a client, you'll hear about these stages frequently and a courtesy e-mail will be sent to you as we advance through every stage.

  • Preparation/Pre-Production. This is the first stage of the entire development process and is about a two week long process which includes a graphic mockups of the final product, fine-detail planning of each layer, and goal deadlines.
  • Storage Layer This stage is about a week long process, for websites needing databases, which includes the creation and further development of the database for which the site will run.
  • Backend Processing Layer. The timeframe for this stage varies on a project-by-project basis and includes the development of the core of the website.
  • Presentation Layer. This stage is about a two week long process which includes taking of the graphic mockups, transforming them into a template, and inserting it into the website system.
  • Security Layer Analysis. This stage is about a week long process which includes third-party expert analysis of the backend and storage layers and staged hack attempts to ensure a vulnerabilities are patched prior to launch.
  • Beta Testing. This stage is about a two week long process which includes real-world testing of the website with users ranging demographically and computer experience. A heavy concentration of the website’s target audience. This stage allows tweaks—or small adjustments—in the site prior to launch for a better user experience.
  • Launch! This is the final stage of the entire development process when the finishing touches are put on the site and it goes live. The length of this stage varies depending on tweaks and patches needed from the ‘Security Layer Analysis’ and ‘Beta Testing.’
